RED BLUFF—Due to rain in the forecast, the annual Lunar New Year celebration has been moved from Historic Chinatown Alley to the Tehama County Fairgrounds.

The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 1 at 11 a.m. at Tehama County Fairgrounds in the Tyler Jelly Building located at 650 Antelope Blvd. in Red Bluff.

The event will take place rain-or-shine. Features include a history of the event, Tai Chi, Lu Mien Flower Girls, Lion Dance and Lion Feeding. All are invited to Historic Chinatown Alley’s Annual New Year Celebration in Red Bluff. The event is free-of-charge and open to the public

The year 2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake. Each year, the Lunar New Year falls on a different date. In 2025, Chinese New Year falls on Jan. 29, marking the start of the Year of the Wood Snake in the Chinese zodiac.

“We look forward to celebrating this wonderful event for the community,” Jessica Chew from the Chew Foundation said.
